Operatory

We exist because dental equipment deserves better than Craigslist.

Operatory is a managed dental equipment liquidation company. We coordinate the entire process from documentation to payout, using competitive auctions to determine real market value.

The problem we solve

Every year, thousands of dental practices close, merge, relocate, or upgrade equipment. The surplus gear is often worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. But recovering that value is painful.

Traditional options are bad. Dealer trade-in offers pennies on the dollar. Local classifieds attract lowball offers. General auction sites have no dental expertise, no condition standards, and no buyer trust. Equipment sits in storage, depreciates, or sells to the first person who shows up with cash.

The result: sellers consistently leave money on the table, and buyers cannot trust what they are getting.

Our approach

Operatory manages the entire liquidation process. We document equipment professionally, build verified listings, run competitive timed auctions, collect payment through Stripe, and coordinate pickup logistics between buyer and seller.

The auction format brings multiple verified buyers together and produces real market prices, not arbitrary dealer quotes. Anti-sniping protection and staggered closings ensure every serious bidder gets a fair shot.

Sellers keep the full winning bid. Zero commission. The platform is funded by a 15% buyer premium added at checkout. Our incentives are aligned: we only make money when equipment sells, and we want it to sell for as much as possible.

Who we serve

Practices closing or transitioning

Retiring, relocating, or merging. We handle your entire equipment inventory, from chairs and imaging to handpieces and cabinetry. You focus on patients and paperwork. We handle the equipment.

Practices upgrading equipment

Replaced a CBCT or chair system? Instead of accepting a fraction of its value on trade-in, let competitive bidding determine the real market price. Most sellers recover significantly more than dealer offers.

DSOs and equipment dealers

High-volume managed liquidation events with staggered lot closings, consolidated payouts, and bulk documentation. Built for organizations with inventory across multiple locations.

Buyers nationwide

Solo practitioners to multi-location groups sourcing verified, documented equipment at competitive prices. Every listing is reviewed by our team before going live. Condition grades, detailed photos, and 5-day buyer protection on every transaction.

Why competitive auctions outperform traditional liquidation

Fixed-price liquidation leaves value on the table because only one buyer determines the price. Competitive auctions bring multiple qualified buyers together and let the market determine value through real demand.

Combined with professional documentation, standardized condition grades, and a nationwide buyer network, the result is consistently higher recovery than dealer trade-ins, private sales, or general auction platforms.

Transparency

Sellers pay zero commission. Buyers pay a 15% premium on the winning bid. There are no hidden fees, no listing charges, and no deductions from seller payouts. Every cost is disclosed before a transaction completes.

Payments are processed through Stripe (PCI Level 1 certified). Funds are held for 5 business days to allow buyer verification. After the hold, sellers receive their full payout directly.
